Registered Dental Hygienist

With over 14 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, Melissa is an accomplished dental professional who enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge. She graduated from Texas State Technical College, in Harlingen, TX with an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. A native of Brownsville, Melissa enjoys interacting with her patients and educating them on the importance of oral hygiene. When not cleaning teeth, she loves exercising and playing with her dogs, Bailey, Romina, and McGreggor. Rest assure, Melissa‘s warm smile and engaging personality will make you feel comfortable!

Nivia

Registered Dental Assistant

Nivia joined the Legacy team in 2015 but has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 2010. Born and raised in Los Fresnos, Nivia is an invaluable member on the team, as she loves dentistry and educating patients on the importance of proper oral hygiene. Patients oftentimes comment on Nivia's warm nature and outgoing personality, with both of these attributes proving especially helpful with patients who are anxious. Nivia is sealant and nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation conscious sedation certified. You'll likely see her assisting Dr. Clements and Dr. Jo, as she is a very skilled and accomplished chair-side assistant. Nivia's interests outside of the practice include spending time with her husband and three adorable chihuahuas, Kiki, Lulu and Chick.

Esmeralda

Registered Dental Assistant

Having been a Registered Dental Assistant for nearly two decades, Esmeralda brings a lot of dental knowledge to the Legacy Dental team. While she graduated from Concorde Career College in San Bernardino, California, Esmeralda earned her coronal polishing, nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation conscious sedation, and sealant certifications from Texas State Technical College in Harlingen. Esmeralda was born in Brownsville, but lived in Riverside, California for 23 years. She's a busy mom of four, with the two older "kids" attending college and the two younger ones active in several extracurricular activities, including Taekwondo. Esmeralda is die-hard "bleed-blue" Dallas Cowboys fan; if she's not wearing scrubs, she's wearing Cowboys gear! 

Cynthia

Insurance Coordinator

As the Insurance Coordinator, Cynthia is in charge of verifying insurance eligibility, processing claims, and educating patients on their insurance benefits. She has over five years of experience with dental billing and is quite familiar with most dental insurance plans. Cynthia was born and raised in Los Fresnos and graduated from South Texas Vocational Technical Institute as a Registered Medical Assistant. She is also a Certified Phlebotomist. During her free time, Cynthia can be found soaking up the sun at South Padre Island with her adorable kiddos, Aiden and Ally. She’s also a big fan of the Houston Texans. 

Kassy

Patient Coordinator

As Patient Coordinator, Kassy is responsible for greeting our guests, assisting with questions, distributing and filing paperwork, and keeping our reception room in tip-top shape. She loves children and enjoys interacting with them and making them feel comfortable.

Kassy was born and raised in Los Fresnos, a community just north of Brownsville. She graduated from Kaplan College in 2014 with a Medical Office Specialist certification.

Outside of the office, Kassy enjoys outdoor activities with friends and spending quality time with her family. She's a sports fan and routes for the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Joseph

Office Manager

A native of Atlanta, GA, Joseph graduated from Georgia State University and then moved to Texas, where he's lived now for roughly 15 years. Joseph brings an extensive background in customer service, management and marketing to our team. He enjoys working alongside his hard-working Legacy teammates and interacting with patients. Most folks likely remember meeting Joseph on their initial visit, as he provides office tours to those who are new to the practice. Joseph also is our “house photographer” and is responsible for taking the shiny, happy pictures seen throughout the office and on our Facebook page for the Patient of the Week contest. Joseph is passionate about life and especially enjoys quality time with his wife and two lovely kiddos.
